Over the last few decades technology has moved on in leaps and bounds. Some of the things we used in the 70s 80s and 90s aren’t really needed anymore. Most of them have been replaced by the latest tech. In 30 years time we might be talking about iPhones and smart TVs as obsolete technology! How many of these things did you use daily back in the day?
1. Betamax Video
It was the better of the two formats, but lost out to it’s cheaper more popular rival VHS!
3. Video Rental
There were only two legal ways to watch the latest movies back in the day, go to the cinema or wait for the video release and go rent it!
4. Cassette Tapes
Needed of course for recording the charts off the radio and making your boyfriend or girlfriend a mix tape!
5. Floppy Disks
The only way to store your computer files – you couldn’t even really fit one mp3 file on them now!
6. Camera Film
Remember sending them off and waiting a week for the prints to come back?
7. Pay Phones
In the late 70s and early 80s not many of us had a phone at home so there was one of these on most street corners!
8. Video Cassette
We had cupboards full of these, with our favourite TV shows and movies on them. I wish i still had some of those recordings!
9. Personal Cassette Player
I would never leave the house without mine! Essential of course for listening to the mix tapes your boyfriend or girlfriend made you!
10. Telephone Directories
Back then we let our fingers do the walking, now we just reach for our smart phone and look up the number on the web!
